Green Tea Could Lead to New Treatments for Fibroid Tumors

There’s good news from Meharry Medical College for millions of women afflicted by fibroid tumors. Researchers there, reporting their findings in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, suggest that an extract of green tea can eradicate fibroid tumors in animal models and may be effective in humans, offering new hope to the 40% of women of reproductive age who suffer from the symptoms of uterine fibroids, which include excessive vaginal bleeding, anemia, infertility, fatigue, and lack of energy. For those severely debilitated by fibroids, the only treatment option now is hysterectomy. Researchers are recruiting participants for human trials.
